Information for Residents

Here you will find all the information you need to settle into, and live in, Swedish Quays.

The managing agents for the development are Rendall and Rittner. See their website for up-to-date contact details: https://www.rendallandrittner.co.uk/. Official communications will always come out via Rendall and Rittner, and are communicated by email and by their My Place Portal. You should contact them for access to this portal.

The Swedish Quays Residents Society Ltd and the Swedish Quays (Freehold) Ltd (SQRS and SQFL) share the same board of directors, who can be contacted collectively by emailing directors@swedishquays.com. Alternatively, the current chair can be contacted at chair@swedishquays.com.

Our local authority is Southwark. They collect four types of waste from us on a regular basis:

Food waste is stored in the single brown bin in each courtyard that is clearly labelled for this purpose. This goes for high temperature composting, and so can contain any animal- or vegetable-based food waste, deposited in compostable recycling bags.

Garden waste is stored in the other brown bins. This too goes for composting.

Dry recyclable waste is collected in large bins in a bin store on the south-west corner of the development. This can be in recyclying bags or loose. See the private area below for the access code for this bin store (you will need to have contacted the Directors to get the login details).

All other waste is collected in large bins in the remaining bin stores. No waste goes to landfill in Southwark, this waste is incinerated and used to provide energy.

If rubbish is placed in the wrong bin, this can cause the bins not to be collected, which affects us all, so please try to get things in the right containers.

For less official and more immediate communications, two WhatsApp groups are in operation. One is for all residents of the development, and is used to communicate to all neighbours about issues of general interest. The second is for all property owners in the development, and is used to communicate issues around the building structure and the board of directors.

Properties in the development that do not have their own integrated garage each have an allocated parking space. In addition, there are a total of ten visitors’ parking spaces. Seven of these are in the slim middle courtyard, and three are in the west courtyard. There are no visitors’ spaces in the east courtyard. These spaces are for visitors to residents of the development, and are for short-term use only.

Residents’ parking permits for Rope Street are available from Southwark Council. We are in zone S of their residential parking scheme. The system is electronic, so cars do not display permits. Typically there is no problem finding a parking space on the street, even at weekends when parking is unrestricted.

There are locking cycle stores in both courtyards. Keys for these are available from the managing agents.

We have a weekly visit from a small professional gardening team led by Miranda, but with the best will in the world this is barely enough for maintenance of the communal gardens. There is also a keen team of volunteer gardeners devoting a considerable amount of time to planting, pruning and watering. You can contact the volunteer team at gardening@swedishquays.com if you are interested in joining their ranks.
